Lenten Journey – Day 6
Biblical Scripture: Ephesians 2:1-10
Open Invitation to Join Terri from
Cloaked Monk

27-Feb-12: Ephesians 2:1-10

You were dead through the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once lived, following the course of this world, following the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work among those who are disobedient. 3 All of us once lived among them in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of flesh and senses, and we were by nature children of wrath, like everyone else. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God— 9 not the result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.

“…..and I used to be so angry with you guys!”

Now hung back in the back of the back of Old Shepherd

The one Littly Lamb in membrance of such kickings and bitesings

He did once give his fellows in bellows so mean in skippered

Trips to trough and lough he now did quakely quiver in heart so sadsings

“Step up, leap up, oh Littly Lamb, ” did Old Shepherd poke and prod

“See ye not warm light, sweet light, heart-light bounced off my Crookeye

“Feel ye not warm angel-winging wind of All Forgivingness Grace of Lovingness Nod

“Fall right across your used-to-bees and your wished-it-wasn’ts to lift you up on high?”

I love that lifting up from the “used-to-bees” and “wished-it-wasn’ts.” This reminds me a little of William Blake’s poem, “The Lamb.” Beautiful, Granbee!

Oh, Sara, it is always such a high honor to have your compliments and support here for any of my posts. Bless you. Okay, alright–yes, I do get quite a kick out of wordplay, yes I do! To put someone such as yourself in mind of William Blake’s poetry when reading any of mine just blows me away. Whoo–eee!

    Loving these two lines especially:

“Feel ye not warm angel-winging wind of All Forgivingness Grace of Lovingness Nod
“Fall right across your used-to-bees and your wished-it-wasn’ts to lift you up on high?”

Your unique style is inspirational and filled with joy! A smile delivered upon arrival and again on departure. Looking forward to tomorrow’s interpretation. 😀

Oh, Becca, bless your dear sweet heart and thank you for your ongoing support. I just love how we are joined together in this Lenten Journey designed by Terri! So very pleased you liked those two lines and experienced the joy I myself feel as I write about these miracles of His Grace!

Rose! Great closer on this one. This reads a bit like the Bible if it had been written by Dr. Seuss. I am a big fan of both the Bible and The Cat In The Hat, so, I hope you accept this as the bouquet of roses I offer you. But, better than the Cat In The Hat, it reads closer to my favorite Dr. Seuss: Oh, The Places You’ll Go! Great stuff.

Wow, my head is about to burst! That is how much you have blown me up with your enthusiastic comments here today. I could wish for no better combination than the Bible and Dr.Seuss books! I grew up with a barn cat, Ol’ Mama, who must have hidden her hat, I swear! She was THAT much like the Cat in the Hat! See, Peter, I simply have decades and decades of experiences with Bible study, and living with a great variety of animals, all just bursting to get out of my heart, mind and soul and onto the page/screen! I must admit, Peter, I am rather pleased with this closer myself! Be well and NEVER stop being “Peter”!

If you don’t mind, I’d like to agree with Cottonbombs! I concur with his comparison of Dr. Seuss and you and I’m a big fan of the Dr.! Your ending was perfect, Rose, and very uplifting:
“Feel ye not warm angel-winging wind of All Forgivingness Grace of Lovingness Nod
“Fall right across your used-to-bees and your wished-it-wasn’ts to lift you up on high?”

Lauren, if you are brave enough to step in Peter’s footsteps, by all means, have at it! Seriously, I am so very pleased that you enjoyed these special lines in this post, as they are treasured by me, as well. I know they come from on high!

“Fall right across your used-to-bees and your wished-it-wasn’ts to lift you up on high?”

Sounds like good advice to me!
