13-Mar-12: Hebrews 9:23-28

24 For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made by human hands, a mere copy of the true one, but he entered into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

25 Nor was it to offer himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Holy Place year after year with blood that is not his own;

26 for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the age to remove sin by the sacrifice of himself.

27 And just as it is appointed for mortals to die once, and after that the judgment,

28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

“……..and you say He will come back even brighter?”

All all rest now, all healing now, all helping now before crossing

That wild stream, that most billowing stream, that roaring stream.

All friends using each other in seeing, touching, hearing, tasting the tossing

That journeying quest had brought them, that Old Crow and Ugly Bird did beam.

“Wait, what is that whistley whispering, that bluesy note just yon?

“Wait, hear, did you hear, did you fear that scratching note of bold?

So friends huddled into each other, still glazed with membered glory beyond.

“Why,”breathed DragonyFly,”I heard of second smackdown glory foretold.”

What a blessing it is to know that Christ has done the COMPLETE work on the cross, savings us form our sins past, present and future…. This is the basis of our eternal security. Lord bless you.

Yes, it is such a blessing to know we Christians have no reason at all to fear His coming in great power and glory to gather the faithful unto Himself. We will be awed and amazed, no doubt–but without reason to fear. How right you are, dear Pastor Rob!

Wonderful about you and Pastor Rob agreeing that work necessary for Salvation was done by Christ on the Cross–it is a free gift! We only have to accept it–that is all, just believe and accept! Hallelujah!

You are speaking in several voices here. With this verse you dance between gospel and rap. Nice moves, Rose!

Yes, Peter, I am moving between gospel and rap and Brer Rabbit and The Calico Cat because all of this and WAY more will be going on at such a time of the Ultimate Light appearing! So glad you joined in with your Canuck voice here, ol’ fella!

So Dragon fly has heard of the second coming ( smackdown) God must of tipped him the wink so he can calm the others !! That just might put Old Crow (the seeing protector) and Ugly Bird ( the helper) beaks out of joint!!
I love it granbee I love it !! xxxxx

Nice…I absolutely the way you mixed myth and belief in this. I’m particularly fond of Corvids, but usually on the Trickster end of the spectrum. Raven, Magpie, Crow…all tricksters in one mythos or another. Also in real life! Ravens have been known to figure out how to open the fastenings of saddle bags on a motorcycle, in order to get at food or a shiny within. πŸ˜‰

When this time of Ultimate Light coming down happens, there will be countless myths remembered and countless tenets of faith praised! Tricksters will be converted to most faithful servants; and servants will be masters! Thanks so much for stepping in at this stage of our journey!

I agree with some others, Rose, you are mixing some styles and it has turned out well. I like the repetition– especially of “stream”– and the alliteration that really gives this piece rhythm. Plus, of course, the theme of hope! Sorry I have not commented on everything you’ve posted lately…you are writing faster than I can read. πŸ™‚ Keep up the great work.

Sarah, after Lent, I will probably only be posting 4 days a week again. It’s just I made this committment to participate in this 7 day a week Lenten Journey! Anyway, thank you for your most helpful feedback here about the mixing of styles (successfully, you say!) and the repetitions, which give this piece rhythm. I had certainly hoped it would read to others this way! Bless you!

We are so blessed to be part of the Chosen Ones … and the horrid way Christ suffered and died for us ONLY has to occur once and not repeatedly. Amazing – what the second coming will entail … how glorious!!β€œWhy,”breathed DragonyFly,”I heard of second smackdown glory foretold.”
