22-Mar-12: Hebrews 4:1-13

Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest is still open, let us take care that none of you should seem to have failed to reach it. 2 For indeed the good news came to us just as to them; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened. 3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,

“As in my anger I swore,

‘They shall not enter my rest,’ ”

though his works were finished at the foundation of the world. 4 For in one place it speaks about the seventh day as follows, “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.” 5 And again in this place it says, “They shall not enter my rest.” 6 Since therefore it remains open for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience, 7 again he sets a certain day—”today”—saying through David much later, in the words already quoted,

“Today, if you hear his voice,

do not harden your hearts.”

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak later about another day. 9 So then, a sabbath rest still remains for the people of God; 10 for those who enter God’s rest also cease from their labors as God did from his. 11 Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs.

12 Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And before him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare to the eyes of the one to whom we must render an account.

“…….and why are we now seeing each other’s hearts beat?”

“Oh, now we beezis in the Lightsies, oh now we skippsies alongies,” sang out the friends.

“Oh, hey, oh hi, oh sweetsies byes and byesies!  We Umms and we Ooohs all the way.”

So did the friends make their path all in the light and around so many bends.

So did the friends make their quest all new and fresh and filled with good to say.

“Oh, wait up there, oh see here now!  What, bot, thot, sot! See that red bumping thingey!

“Oh, me, oh my, oh sigh, oh cry! Will we all fall to piecedty mitsies? We see red beating.”

“Ah, rest ye, peace ye, hush ye, dear ones, ” cawed down Old Crow and Ugly Bird wingey.

“Ye must learn now of that cutting Light that shows the hearts of one to all in fleeting.”

It is very true, Rose, that we all must learn of that cutting light that shows hearts to all. Amazingly enough it shines as brightly as the sun, even, (and sometimes especially) in darkness, yet, we turn on the tv or computer and get a false glow from them.

Wonderful that you point out here that false lights and false glows from TVs and computers in our society! Thank you for helping fill out the messge here! Will I owe you any percent of royalties from the film rights? The TRUE LIGHT cuts right through all the falsities and guff and reveals the TRUE HEARTS around us, thank goodness!

The Light pours from those hearts that beat as One.. Those who think they are seperate are falling into “piecedty mitsies” … The light looks right into, through and fills us… And I hope my dear Granbee We continue to Beat as One… Wishing you a Good Evening my dear friend from over the wave… But who waves her love and light across an Ocean!.. ~Sue xx

Well, you’re probably not surprised, but this is my favorite line:

“Ye must learn now of that cutting Light that shows the hearts of one to all in fleeting.”

Ah, that “cutting Light” that emits the wisdom of the heart! 🙂

Yes, Betty, the “cutting Light” revealing all is also my favorite part of this Lenten scriptural passage! So pleased you are connecting with this particular message. Love having you climb higher with us!

I’m choosing a different line and perspective, Rose…“Ah, rest ye, peace ye, hush ye, dear ones, ” cawed down Old Crow and Ugly Bird wingey.

Dear Old Crow and Ugly Bird shine the light to all, so that we may feel love together and conveying that if we rest our worried minds and keep the faith, then we won’t “fall to piecedty mitsies.”
I hope this makes sense! 🙂 xx

“…….and why are we now seeing each other’s hearts beat?”

How I love that! Seeing the lifeblood of love in each other.

Yes, Diane, the “lifeblood of love”–what wonderful way to rephrase this reality of true brotherly and sisterly communion because of our communion with our Creator!
