30-Mar-12: Philippians 2:12-18
12 Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence, but much more now in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmuring and arguing, 15 so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world. 16 It is by your holding fast to the word of life that I can boast on the day of Christ that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 But even if I am being poured out as a libation over the sacrifice and the offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you— 18 and in the same way you also must be glad and rejoice with me.
“……and you say if we stop arguing, we can shine brighter?”
So now friends be climbin’ high and sparkin’ sigh after sigh.
So now critters be rockin’ and rollin’ ’round rock and rill.
So now unfolk be leaning’ and keenin’ all up and up so high.
So now all questers be pesters for Crow to give ’em a thrill.
“Why ye not happy to be so sappy with life on this hill?
“Why ye not diggin’ down into critter heart for joy of this trip?”
“Why ye dim your life on this path with so much murmur to kill
“The new light, the new stars, right out of your eyes to slip?”
“Oh, Crow, oh Bird, oh Blythy-fly, all winged ones up there!”
“Ye beesies so righties when ye tellsies us of so wrongelly words.
“Oh, guiding wings, flap and dap down more such wiselings to bear
“Alway and e’er more in smilin’ face so our lightsies not be curds.”
Mar 31, 2012 @ 04:07:15
Rocking and rolling critters? I like that.
Yep, we have to stop dimming the light and be the light. I feel rather smart for fully understanding what you’ve illustrated here. Hmmm…Maybe that’s a sign. 😮
Mar 31, 2012 @ 22:15:21
Ye have received de Light, Sister! Yes, a wonderful sign when we can move together in harmony, rockin’ and rollin’ all night long, right?
Mar 31, 2012 @ 04:52:23
Like our wings eclipse then show you critterly folk the light of the one , so now we winged ones come down to hush shush ye all stop all the bickering, who cares who is bigest, bestest, prettiest fastest slowest , OH! OH! hush those critterly tongue and wash out those long floppy loppy ears it is the one who is the best he is the light and the way!
Mar 31, 2012 @ 22:16:20
willowdot, as usual, your versifying adds so much to these posts! Thank you over and over again for your limitless enthusiasm and word gifts!
Mar 31, 2012 @ 05:53:32
this sent me a rocking and a rolling till I found my critter heart!
Mar 31, 2012 @ 22:17:10
Wow, Linda, then that decision to use some 60s language was “spot on”! A critterly heart is what I myself am journeying toward!
Mar 31, 2012 @ 11:01:36
Since my word of the year this year is “shine,” you know I loved this!
Mar 31, 2012 @ 22:17:56
Galen, shine on, shine on and help lead us ever higher! So pleased you enjoyed this post! Bless you for your comment.
Mar 31, 2012 @ 14:18:12
Granbee–I am absolutely captivated by that question: “and you say if we stop arguing, we can shine brighter?” Wow, “heavy” (as they said in the 60’s). Wouldn’t that be a world-changer??!! God bless you abundantly. love, sis Caddo
Mar 31, 2012 @ 22:21:08
Well, Caddo, I was just meditating last evening on the fact you have not stopped in here to comment for a while. I had been afraid I scared you off somehow! You KNOW how much I admire your own poetic insights and talents! Yes, Caddo, this entire series ever since late November last year is “heavy” stuff! Hang in and quest with us–and you will see why! God bless you. Writing a world-changer is EXACTLY what I am about! So what if it is a loft aspiration! Can’t never could, right?
Mar 31, 2012 @ 15:09:28
I echo Caddo’s thoughts on this one. It follows on so beautifully from the “shut up and be quiet” one :-D. The arguments can be within, not just without, and if we stop the fights within, we shine brighter.
Wonderful post again, Rose!
Mar 31, 2012 @ 22:22:20
Angela, thank you so much for pointing out the importance of stopping the aruments within ourselves, that “internal chatter” that blocks out that Inner Voice! Very, very helpful to this overall quest. Bless you!
Apr 01, 2012 @ 00:01:24
That was what I read into this verse, Rose:
““Why ye not happy to be so sappy with life on this hill?
“Why ye not diggin’ down into critter heart for joy of this trip?”
“Why ye dim your life on this path with so much murmur to kill
“The new light, the new stars, right out of your eyes to slip?”
I thought you had meant to include it! :-). If you didn’t do it consciously, your soul is speaking in glorious language that I am hearing in earfuls of light 🙂 It just shows how layered your poetry is and how layered the consciousness of us all. Woo hoo!
Apr 01, 2012 @ 00:03:12
Angela, the words you added in your comment are indeed ONE of the layers of my post! Thank you for bringing this particular layer up to the light! Hooray!
Apr 01, 2012 @ 00:13:54
‘Unfolk be leaning and keening’ – excellent! I love the flow of the lines!
Apr 01, 2012 @ 00:15:34
Bless you, dearest ChristyB, for such an affirmative statement of your enjoyment of this post. Be well, be in peace and joy!
Apr 01, 2012 @ 19:25:38
granbee,
I echo Caddo’s thoughts on this one too!
And I am also rockin’ and rollin’ along there with you!
I wrote a poem the other day about an argument not really being about what we were arguing about! (Does that make sense?!) I will post it soon; you will recognise it from what I have said here. And that argument, if we hadn’t realised what it was really about could have switched the Light right off.
Wonderful stuff granbee.
Much love to you
Christine
Apr 03, 2012 @ 01:17:33
Christine and Jack: I am very sure you two never argue, do you? Ha! Anyway, I am so glad you commented here, because I feel this is one of my most important posts today during this Lenten Journey! Clear communications, reasoned discussions held in an atmosphere of compassions and mutual support WOULD be a world-changer, right? I look forward to your poem about that confused arugment, dear lady!
Apr 02, 2012 @ 02:06:50
Rose! This sings in harmony with the video you posted last day. It’s a wonderful sentiment and I don’t want to nominate you for any blogging award, I want to nominate you for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Apr 03, 2012 @ 01:19:08
Peter, you are SUCH a wonderful person, you know that–but you DO get a tad carried away! However, I will just graciously and non-argumentatively (tee, hee!) accept this nomination! You have caught me at the height of my passion in this post today!
Apr 03, 2012 @ 01:38:33
Peter and Rose – you make me chuckle you two x 😀
Apr 03, 2012 @ 01:40:11
Yes, Peter and I are considering taking this act on the road, right, Peter?
Apr 03, 2012 @ 02:03:09
Ah Rose I am laughing out loud…hey you two I would pay good money to see this double act xx
Apr 03, 2012 @ 02:04:22
Jane, we are going to hold you to that–and bring Em: she can get in free!
Apr 07, 2012 @ 05:08:14
Absolutely, Rose! My agent has us book for a weekend at the Chuckle Hut in Fresno. We’re opening for a guy who has taken watermelon smashing to new heights.
Apr 10, 2012 @ 02:53:17
But you have to bring your own watermelons, Peter! I am involved in so many stand-up routines every day where I live in NW Alabama that I will not have any extras for Fresno!
Apr 02, 2012 @ 15:19:44
if we stop arguing we can shine brighter, perfect question for Lenten season my friend, sometimes we need to argue to see the best sides, i love the flow of the poem…
Apr 03, 2012 @ 01:20:20
Bless you, dear willof, for seeing both sides of this issue. We can DISCUSS issues with mutual compassion and support, rather than argue and grumble behind each other’s backs, right?
Apr 02, 2012 @ 20:09:48
You shine very brightly for me and many others Rose…I love you xx
Apr 03, 2012 @ 01:21:26
Dear, dear, loveliest of all Janes: how very much I treasure your constant encouragement here. I love your sweet and brave heart, as well!
Apr 03, 2012 @ 04:57:35
“……and you say if we stop arguing, we can shine brighter?”
Oh so true — we block the Light so often by actions without thinking … rather than shining as we should so HE can shine through us …
Apr 03, 2012 @ 06:46:35
So very wonderful to have you back, Becca! Hope your trip was wonderful. Hope you are having a blessed Holy Week. We must keep our hearts clear of negativity in order for HIM to shine out of our soul-windows, mustn’t we?
Apr 03, 2012 @ 08:48:43
The critters are bringing the truth to us now, Granbee… but then, they have been all along! Thanks good friend… I look forward to the time I get to spend here! God bless!
Apr 04, 2012 @ 01:22:10
Bless you many times over, m and t! I love having you here with your wonderfully supportive and insightful comments! Let us listen to, and watch, these critters very carefully together, okay?
Apr 08, 2012 @ 13:55:41
This made me think of a recent tragedy in Florida…if only we all realize on the same journey…and live more out of purity than suspicion…understanding than fear…
‘Why ye dim your life on this path with so much murmur to kill’
Very profound and very relevant, Granbee!
Apr 10, 2012 @ 02:54:15
I must admit that I was affected by the Trayvon Martin case when I wrote this post. I hope you have signed the online petition that justice may be found in that case.
Apr 14, 2012 @ 22:40:17
I appreciate your blog so much…and I am encouraged and inspired by the comments and thoughts that you share on my blog posts as well. Blessings as you journed through the moments of this day…
Apr 14, 2012 @ 22:42:35
