8-Apr-12: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11

Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, 2 through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you—unless you have come to believe in vain.

3 For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, 4 and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them—though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim and so you have come to believe.

“…….and you say WE POOR CRITTERS are to carry the Good News?”

No longer in fear of tumbling rocks and falling sprocks down into the gorge;

Dear critters did march along in song and perch with tong upon their path.

No more did critters guess to wonder at the Winged Ones songs to forge

This fellowship of questers and besters of all the steep places could strath.

“Oh now we singies of our suppers and our duppers on yon crest.”

“Oh, now we skippies and hoppsies and never minds any of the rest.”

“But wait, wait, ye loving critters, know ye not of your next test?”

“For now ye must save the breath and find the talk of Good News so blest.”

And so the wings of Ugly Bird, Old Crow and Blue Fly covered with love and knowledge the tummbly rummbly loved questers ! The had thought , some for the very first time, of the next and bigger quest set them! ” WEEEEWOOOO!” they all shouted and they gambled and rambled forth to spread the “Wordzees” xx

Dearest Becca, what a totally amazing and life-giving journey this has been! This Lenten Journey with you and Terri has made the rest of my year and my life’s most passionate goals all fall into place. It has also greatly benefited my life in my family, my church and my community, and my nation–and the world at large, what the heck! Thank you so much for being at my side as we journeyed to this point of Sharing the Good News!

Granbee, no matter how poor of a critter I may be, I will keep sharing and spreading the crumbs of life for all to feed. As starving as my flesh may be this poor critter’s soul will be spiritually full . I will mosey and posey around sharing a crumb of two but what the other poor critters do with it is totally up to them.

Poor critter, I may be down here in this temporary place but my permanant home is full of crumbs galore and it keeps piling on forever and forever. Even if the other critters don’t feed me none, I will still show love as commanded by the Holy One!

Okay, Granbee this poor critter must skip along and share a crumb or two with other critters who are lost and confused. I must do what one Old Crow done for me and many others. She showed me how to persevere when others did not do the same as I have done for them. I asked why should I? Old Crow replied because we serve a God whose name is above every name.

My Old Crow is filled with love and wisdom beyond her years. She is the age that young critters like I hope to see. So understand it is better to be a poor critter on earth than a lost soul in the pits of hell. See you soon Old Crow!

Dear Shenine, wonderful to see you here again! Actually, I am not the Old Crow (I think I modeled her after my sainted maternal grandmother!), but I am the Stump Woman! Anyway, we are all poor critters that Christ died for, are we not? And that is what makes the glory of the life, death, resurrection and ascencion of Our Lord even more glorious! We are members of His family as critters!

Hi Granbee, my grandmother always marked Old Crow as someone who was much older than the young but always shared wisdom in ways that left a young person thinking. She would say,” you guys don’t have to listen to me, I am just an old crow.” Since her passing away, what she was really saying, if we could live to see her age in this generation, by the blessings of God. I lost my mom at age 40, in 1995.

You named your maternal grandmother must have left an impression upon you to use in such a worthy cause. I believe we are all critters but there are critters who are not part of the Journey with Jesus, thats why all us critters are sharing the word to bring new critters in and encourage the critters who believe to continue this journey with Jesus.
I apologize perhaps I misunderstood. Either way I enjoy your post as always when I pass through.

Thank you for being a follower of Jesus! He is so worthy of the Praise.

No need for any apologies whatsoever, dear sistern Shenine! All of us are critters, some in the light–and some still in darkness. It is our task, our quest, and our very high honor to be called to bring those other critters out of the dark and into full acceptance of the Light of His Love!

The old goat picks through the rocks
decending surely down the slippery slope
Old goats feet are sure as they scamper down the path of rock
long is the journey, through hills and valleys
    always watchful, full of hope
    The old goats eyes
    are always on the prize

    His way is sure
    He is the One
the path is sometimes a blurr
look you then, to the One
    fix your eyes upon Him
    trod the path He creates
    be in lock-step with One
    you will never be undone

Thank you sis…I’m so glad you are my friend. 🙂

Dear Brother Greg, I am so glad you are my friend as well. I enjoyed the light-hearted, yet profound way, in which you figured The One as an old goat! This particular Old Goat carries all the wisdom of the ages on His back and knows every possible way to get along this steep trail safely and victoriously! Yes, let us all be in lock-step with Him on our journey! Have a MOSt blessed Easter Week!

Granbee, The verses you have chosen for this posting are wonderful indeed. Teh true, pure gospel message is clearly proclaimed…. His death, burial, resurrection, and the proofs of that resurrection are the truths that the Lord used to bring us to Himself. What a wonderful reminder of His grace and truth He has so graciously given to us! Thank you for the wonderful posting!

Pastor Rob, thank for so very much for your enthusiastic support of this post! It means a great deal to me! But Terri, over at Cloaked Monk (she is an ordained Methodist minister) designed this Lenten Journey series, which I joined after finding the link on my friend Becca’s website, known as On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea. All of us who participated (you can find the list at Cloaked Monk wordpress blog) agreed it was a life-transforming and HUGH spiritual growth booster for those 48 days (we did them on the “non-Lenten” Sundays, as well!) I just don’t even feel like the same person now: I feel as though all the natural goodness God gave me at conception has been expanded exponentially, making much more room for indwelling of the Holy Spirit! Yes, this particular scripture I also, thought, was more-than-perfect for this past Easter Sunday. I am truly celebrating all of Easter Week, this being Easter Friday, so much more than I ever have before. Blessings on you and all your work for Him!
