“……but I’m not GOOD enough for that High Room!”
“I not good enough, clean enough for goin’
into that High Room of Light,” moaned one critter,
that Flop-Eared Donkey, brayin’ in sad groanin’
in the Wind of Disgust of mind in fear so bitter.
Flop-Eared Boy ran to cry on Donkey’s neck:
“You beez mah fweenz, youz carry mah load!”
“Waitsee, waitsee,” spouted Big Croakie on deck.
“Dat beastie kicked me down no bettr’n a toad!”
So Boy pulled one donkey ear to lead up to Room;
But Croakie hopped on other ear to smash back down:
“He’uns no go in High Room of Light wid ME!”did boom
Out Old Croakie in great frantic hoppin’ under mean frown.
“Then ye can just hop right on out with Snarlies and Growlies,”
pointed all friends in winding chorus blowing up to high shelf.
“Oh,me, oh my, oh bye-bye,” Croakie wept deep in his bowelies.
“Oh, I sees now I give not to Donkey what I’se wants for Self.”
“Oh, please, please, O thou dear cloud o’ witnesses so clean:
“I is beggin’ just one-toe-room in low,low corner of High Space.”
Then did Flop-Eared Donkey step right up smartly to keen:
“Oh, now ’tis I who begs dis Croakie to be forgivin’ me w’out trace.”
Then didst Littley Lamb whisper up to Old Crow:
“Let Rainbow Fly gleam on Donkey and Frog alike,
“Flap them both right quick, quick up and up in tow
“Right straight into High Room free from all strike.”

So’uns when wee’ens got to door of light we critters we unfolks became like them, them humans, the peoples sadly madly badly we not want to be like them. We’uns we should knows better . Old Crow , Old Crow you let yourself down, down, down deeper down …you no better than a human…you just like them. The boy he knew you were wrong, gone wrong lost your way too big for your bootsees! It took little Lamb smallest weakest bam bam lambese to show you the light the bright not night light . You almost lost your way, but for Littlely Lamb you would be lost. The one the loved one he say all are welcome in the light of Blusey Fly’s light the light for all , all big all small!! silly old Crow!!
May 31, 2012 @ 04:10:27
Well, Old Crow did need to be prodded to do the right thing on this one, didn’t he. And so did a lot of the other critters! Littley Lamb knew the only hope for maintaining that cloud of witnesses was to pour the healing oil of forgiveness on both Croaker and Donkey! After all, they had both confessed, like the thief on the cross, right?
May 31, 2012 @ 06:08:27
I really enjoyed reading this. I wish the story hadn’t ended. The whimsy of it brought such life to the truth of it all. The High Room is enough by itself to make me smile because God is so good and righteous! The slate is wiped clean! Forgiveness goes a long ways. 🙂
Jun 01, 2012 @ 04:45:09
Terra, the story is NOT ended–there are many more segments to come over the next months! Look out for the next installment on tomorrow’s post, okay? The “High Room” does have room for all and all who confess are instantly and freely forgiven and super-clean to enter, leaving no dirty footprints! Ha!
Jun 01, 2012 @ 05:11:02
Awesome! I am looking forward to reading it! Thank you for sharing the update. 🙂 🙂
Jun 01, 2012 @ 05:19:03
Great to have you on board,Terra! I feel so encouraged by your continued support!
May 31, 2012 @ 09:34:26
oh that title just made me leave everything else and come to you…
loved it Rose,
so many people go through the same ,that they aint good enough for god’s forgiveness,
understand he does forgive, but you have to realise your follies and ask for forgiveness( and that means do the right thing, correct your mistakes)
Jun 01, 2012 @ 04:46:58
Right on, Sister Soma! I had a very good feeling about that post’s title. So pleased to know it drew you instantly to read the post! I find that this is one of the major problems of humans all over the world–not feeling it is ever possible to be “good enough”. Confession, restitution, forgiveness–steps anyone and everyone has freely available to them.
May 31, 2012 @ 10:25:00
Dearest Rose, I’ve enjoyed this chapter…….especially. The world is filled with those who think they aren’t good enough, which is only because they don’t understand the love that would die for them, love that asks for nothing in return but to believe. That is the purest love ~ that which never has to be deserved. Thank you for this lovely reminder. ~ Always, Bobbie
Jun 01, 2012 @ 04:48:45
Bobbie, I knew this would be a much-needed and therefore, much-attended, post. So pleased you found it to be so. Yes, this is one of the chief problems of people everywhere. I feel that this unresolved self-disgust eats away at all that is of potential good in people and turns into the acid of anger and violence and mayhem.
May 31, 2012 @ 10:27:41
“……but I’m not GOOD enough for that High Room!” …. But I sure try hard to be good enough to NOT go into the “Low Room” either…. Just good enough to be in peace here on earth. Good read! Thanks Granbee!
Jun 01, 2012 @ 04:49:46
Jennifer, so very pleased you enjoyed this post. I join you in being “clean enough”, forgiven enough, to live in peace on earth–and pray this condition for everyone else!
May 31, 2012 @ 14:15:07
I love the acts, how fable is created and philosophy introduced through the little boy! Fingers crossed granbee!
Jun 01, 2012 @ 04:51:03
Vikram, what a fantastically thoughtful and insightful support you are here! That little boy really did help teach a much more hopeful and positive life philosophy, did he not?
Jun 02, 2012 @ 00:28:09
Jesus Christ! 🙂
Jun 02, 2012 @ 02:42:56
He be dee One!
May 31, 2012 @ 17:04:36
Many a folk catch hold of the blues and feel like they’re not good enough or worthy of good happening. Maybe do a story on forgiveness. That’s the darnest thing folk find hard: to forgive themselves. Took me a good minute to understand that.
Jun 01, 2012 @ 04:52:24
LACK of self-forgiveness is behind so much of the darkness and grief and violence in this world, I think, Tots! So tremendously pleased that you saw that critical step in this little saga!
Jun 01, 2012 @ 00:47:20

Aye, aye, Captain!
Jun 02, 2012 @ 10:40:16
Oh, I loved the message of forgiveness in this poem, Rose! Awesome, as always! 🙂
Jun 02, 2012 @ 22:03:16
Lauren, we all need SO much forgiveness, do we not? I knew your compassionate heart would appreciate this one! Thank you for your wonderful support here.
Jun 02, 2012 @ 22:25:13
Yes, forgiveness is much needed, but the most difficult to achieve. In some cases, I’m not even sure if I’d be able to forgive…that’s a conversation over lattes! 🙂
Jun 02, 2012 @ 22:29:17
Forgiveness, Lauren, is not about the extent of the evil deed one is seeking to forgive but about “letting go” in one’s own heart, mind, and soul! Every time I have a “forgiveness” challenge, I think of Jesus suffering so horribly on the cross asking His Father to “forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Forgiveness is an enormous gift to oneself!
Jun 02, 2012 @ 22:34:27
That’s true and very well said, Rose. Fortunately, this isn’t an issue right now, so all is peaceful in my heart and I hope (and know) in yours, too! I’ll be working on a publishing venture in the next two weeks, so please keep me in your prayers. No expectations, but many hopes and dreams. We shall see~ xx
Jun 02, 2012 @ 22:36:18
Crossing every finger and toe and beating every available prayer drum for you, Lauren, on this publishing venture! So very pleased all in peaceful in your spirit today! Am excited about your project!
Jun 02, 2012 @ 12:59:59
“I not good enough, clean enough for goin’
just a little nit pick from my side Rose, when I read this I was thinking should that maybe be.. I’m not good enough, clean enough for goin… somehow it felt for me like a little hick up when reading. I enjoyed the read, cai Francina
Jun 02, 2012 @ 22:07:50
Francina, your feedback here is very much appreciated! You and a couple of other regular followers have commented on my invented language and grammar patterns here as being somewhat difficult to follow. The “I” without the ” ‘m” was intentional to reflect the sniffling, gulping taking place within the speaker of this line. That is a very real hiccup of angst and self-condemnation happening there. However, I do acknowledge that some readers may find this type of literalism difficult to read through, so I have begun to include more lines with a “normal” grammatical flow! Also, in the books themselves, there will be many straight narrative passages to break up this “critterspeak”!
Jun 04, 2012 @ 00:41:29
You’re welcome, Rose. I get your drift in regard to the fact that you used I without m. Now I understand better.. You make me curious how the book will be when it’s finished!
Ciao, Francina xox
Jun 05, 2012 @ 04:31:02
How very gracious of you, Francina, to respond and let me know you understood the reasons behind my grammatical choices in this post! As I said, many passages in the book itself are in traditional English grammatical form as narrative.
Jun 03, 2012 @ 04:20:16
What more can I add here Granbee, that hasnt already been said.. It seems many think at times they are not good enough for the ‘High Room’ We all of us will travel through the Door! and ALL of us have access regardless,.. The Keys are within everyones hands… We only have to fit them into the locks and turn them..
Love your critterly journey my friend.. As always.. you bring such joy into your stories.. And I have been in need of that.. Forgive my long absence.. it seems long anyways.. Hugs.. Sue.. xx
Jun 05, 2012 @ 04:26:28
Sue, there is absolutely nothing to forgive, as you have been with us on this journey in spirit every step of the way! We all DO have the right key to unlock the door to that High Room, if we are only willing to dig down deep into our pockets to grab that key and USE it!
Jun 04, 2012 @ 14:16:03
Such an amazing journey we are taking … and He knows all of it already … and still loves and forgives us … all we have to do is keep on keeping on with our eyes on Him!! Thank you, granbee for your wonderful critters and their message to us. xoxo
Jun 05, 2012 @ 04:27:38
Becca, bless you, dear lady, for such a joyful affirmation of the stages of our journey, which HE surely does already know, but loves us so much He leads us along these pathways that we can grow in His love in so doing.
Jun 09, 2012 @ 02:11:52
Rose! Like charity begins in the home, divinity begins in ourselves, choosing to recognize the light that waits to show us the way. Just like I turned to your site and now see light from the screen, we continue to march together onwards and upwards!
Jun 09, 2012 @ 02:57:54
Ever and always onward and upward, Peter! We shed light on each other’s pathways, do we not? As we share light and love unstintingly, we are enlighted and beloved many times over!
Jun 11, 2012 @ 23:58:04
Forgive me for my lack of comments as I catch up on your posts, Rose…I am in rather low spirits right now…but the title here certainly spoke to how I feel …though not really feeling unworthy of God’s love…I always feel the center of his love and guidance in my being…but more unworthy of worldly things…or just out of sync with them. Thank you for all you share at all times! Your writing is so very special!
Jun 12, 2012 @ 04:51:32
Dearest Diane, praying for you to move into a happier state of mind very soon! I know exactly what you mean about feeling out of sync with your worldly surroundings! Very much how I am if I ever take my eyes off The Prize!
Jun 28, 2012 @ 14:24:29
you are one in a millon bright stars! You spread so much light. Thank you for being you.
Jun 29, 2012 @ 04:53:02
Heather! I am WAY beyond flattered by your effusive comment here! So very encouraging for this dorky ol’ Southern farmgirl!
