“……how can we find our way?”

“……how can we find our way?”

“How dare’st we go down yon slope?

“No footsie holds we seez, only tumblin’ rocks!”

Thus did Mistress Mouse and Rooster and Spottedty Goat all groan without hope,

As Rainbow Fly and Old Crow called to march on with pulled-up socks.

”Oh, weez has such nice clean bright Safe Room!

“Why weez even need to leave such sweet dear spot?”

Huddled in crooning more and more friends all a-boom,

E’en while Crook-Eye and Bush Nose pointed to new found slot.

“Oh, ye timid ones, ye anxious ones, look ye sharp round that first bend!

“Look ye close to find narrow way, twixt those rocks and thorns!

“For The One knows just the space ye needs to send

“Those toes and claws down so safely held like new-borns.”

Old Crow frowning as only an old crow can waved a wing of despairing thought at wee timerous mousey and Rooster and Spottedty Goat. Taking the wing and ear of Young Blusey he whispered ” Sees yee what I sees they wee’un they fliperty floperty hipperty hopperty crawlin’and a walking ones they all fallin at the firstest post ! We knowses that the way be long and dangerous but they did not, we do needs to be forgivin of them they not as knowing as us!
Light up, light up Blusey warm their way we needs to be a coaxin and a cajolin and a tellin the wee’un the timididy weakly scary ones we need to show them the way!
Wees all like to stay in bright room, white room, comfy room with food and cosy cushions but we need to spread da Word! The One, he knows well what we must do he knows well what we can do ! He loves us each and every critterly unfolkesy one of us even you timerous wee mousey! He holds us all in the plam of his lovely caring handy!
Up , up ye gets our stranger than strange crew onward, onwards we have lots to do. The way is safest if we follow yon narrow track betwix and between and we all stay in Blusey’s light.”
And so with much mumblin and a grumblin they set forth and some even fifth!

And they will lift each other up and toss each other over and push each other past many a barrier on this winding, narrow, rough path they are set upon by their Creator! He knows what strength and skills they need to develop to be able to benefit from that Perfect Light when at last they find it!

Claudia, I am ALWAYS having to “pull up my socks” literally and psychologically when marching on after a rest in my life! So pleased you enjoyed that phrase! And thrilled the ending worked for you! Thanks!

There is something about the feelings evoked by this and many of your other poems… I can’t put my finger on it. I didn’t even notice it at first. I like it. I’ll have to think on it some more.

    Ahhh, such wonderful lines Rose:

Look ye close to find narrow way, twixt those rocks and thorns!
For The One knows just the space ye needs to send.

There is, indeed, always a way, even though it may be as narrow as the eye of needle – but you only need enough of a gap to see the light. :-). Great poetry, as ever, my friend, and always profound and subtle messages hidden amongst the feathers and bluster of your critters.

And sometimes, dear Angela, we can pass through the eye of a needle much easier if friends are there to push and pull us through! So very pleased you are finding this poetry profound and subtle, for I never want to beat anyone over the head, but let readers discover the truths welling up inside themselves as they read and ponder over these lines.
