“……we’uns never have enough room!”

“……we’uns never have enough room!”

Squeezed together with pinchey toes

An’ scrapin’ bellies

An’ knockin’ noggins in blows

All down in the’ boggins shrillies.

Squished ‘n squashed an’ pressin’ blows

On long-ago nervsies.

Topsy-turvsies all-a-boggle

No whit of glee did find a thrill to toggle

Where friends were smashin, clashin’

All twistin’ an’ bustin’ w’elbow so thrashin’

Were friends seekin’ safety from snortin’ beasties

So hungry for the husks o’ their berries in feasties.

“Turn ye selves rightside up, ye goonies in den!”

Old Crow then did flap so scratched a croak

From one-toed perch on ledge just then,

“Does not ye see new ray of light in stroke,

“Pointing to door,  secret door, to Higher Room of kin?”

“……Save us from that snorting and growling!”

“……Save us from that snorting and growling!”

So now all filled and thrilled our friends do lean

On rocks in mock of bugs in rugs so snug

All friends, all fed, now thinking to preen

Without a care one last drink to chug.

“What, what, bot, bot?” did Crookeye and Bushy disclaim.

“What means such snorts and growls on the prowl?”

Did even Crow and Ugly flap in wonder not so tame.

“How canst Rainbow Light have faded with this howl?”

“Quick, quick, slide under this shelf,” bleated dear Littley Lamb.

So scarce awake did friends roll and squeeze and tug under ledge.

“What, what, ye bot-bots?  scrape ye selves back, back, bam, bam!”

Did Lambey push all friends into glinting hug of Rainbow Fly.

“……..and you say we are now BROTHERS and SISTERS, no matter our fur or skin?”

16-Mar-12: Ephesians 1:7-14

7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace

8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight

9 he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ,

10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

“……..and you say we are now BROTHERS and SISTERS, no matter our fur or skin?”

“So now we go on?  Now we climb up again to all those many lights?”

So did all friends, all critters, all folksey-wolkseys quire of Old Crow.

“Oh, thou creeping crawlers and stompy marchers, first take some bites.”

So did Old Crow with Ugly Bird squawk down at friends below.

“Yes, help your brothers, help your sisters, gather and snip berried seeds.”

“What, what mean ye, Old Cawkers?  We all furry-skurry so different, ye know!”

“What, what mean ye, High Squawkers?  We not kin, we not kin in creeds!”

“Yes, yes, oh tawky-mawky ones!  Ye be all kin by sign of Babe, washing of light-bow!”

“….and you say you see golden crowns over there?”

8 But of the Son he says,

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,

and the righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom.

“….and you say you see golden crowns over there?”

Now all friends did mumble and bumble in near dreams

Now all critterly folks did stretch and roll to find their rest

Now the feet and hands did touch for sleep in streams

Of gasping and thanking for all toil past and rest now best

When now a brief flash of a wing did sweep o’er all

When now a brief spark of light did peep o’er all

“Oh, what can this mean, this glory all ’round?”

“Oh, can that be a golden crown marked for all so upward bound?”

”…..and you did say not to talk?”

3-Mar-12: Mark 8:27-30

27 Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples,

“Who do people say that I am?” 28 And they answered him, “John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”

29 He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Messiah.” 30 And he sternly ordered them not to tell anyone about him.

“…..and you did say not to talk?”

All splayed and stretched upon the sands and rocks of that peak

Our friends did lie in stuporous amaze at the messages of the wings and light

All tumbled out of used-to-bes and could-have-beens confusing these meek.

All friends knew their Maker breathed on the wings and through the light so bright.

“Just one more note, one more whisper, oh dear friends,” sang Ugly Bird with Crow.

“Just one last piercing of your hearts at rest, “whispered Bluesdy-Whoosy Dragonfly.

“Take care to pass this word of Him, this sight of Him, to not a single bug or beau.”

“Take care to feed your joy in silence, in waiting, in ponder of Him with holy sigh.”

“…and I thought you were plotting against me!”

8 Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.

9 Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called—that you might inherit a blessing.

“….and I thought you and Ugly Bird and Old Crow were mad at me!”

Trampling and grampling and nibbling and scribbling off in the rocks

Spotted Goat snortling and courtling the taggly ends of our crew

Wiggling eye under knotty forehead uppsy-downsy-allaroundsy pocks

Spotted Goat all trembley-bimbley under wings upahead in chatter much ado.

“Come up here, come up front, come up to brighter light,”cawed Old Crow.

“Come up now, come up thou, come up to bow in light,” chirped Ugly Bird.

“Come see, come saw, come bee, come baw in all glow,” whistled Dragonfly.

“OH!OH! OH!  You are not mad at my horns, my stink, my jaw? OH,JOY!” leaped Spotted Goat.

“…..and I used to be so angry with you guys!”

Biblical Scripture: Ephesians 2:1-10

27-Feb-12: Ephesians 2:1-10

You were dead through the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once lived, following the course of this world, following the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work among those who are disobedient. 3 All of us once lived among them in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of flesh and senses, and we were by nature children of wrath, like everyone else. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God— 9 not the result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.

“…..and I used to be so angry with you guys!”

Now hung back in the back of the back of Old Shepherd

The one Littly Lamb in membrance of such kickings and bitesings

He did once give his fellows in bellows so mean in skippered

Trips to trough and lough he now did quakely quiver in heart so sadsings

“Step up, leap up, oh Littly Lamb, ” did Old Shepherd poke and prod

“See ye not warm light, sweet light, heart-light bounced off my Crookeye

“Feel ye not warm angel-winging wind of All Forgivingness Grace of Lovingness Nod

“Fall right across your used-to-bees and your wished-it-wasn’ts to lift you up on high?”

“…….and you said I would be thrown out!”

“……….and you told me the others would throw me out!”

25-Feb-12: Matthew 9:2-13, focusing on verses 10-12.

10 And as he sat at dinner in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and were sitting with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when he heard this, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.”

Oh, now croaky, so folky in pokey timidey hopsies

Oh, now, Lowly Croaky, once Big Croakey, peeks at top

Oh, now on top, once in ditch, picked up by camel popsies

Oh, now, frog legs and darting tongue seek out more to cop.

“How can I be here, how can I be amongst you, oh friends?”

“Did I not brag and stick out my tongue and give you warts?

“Oh, the Babe and then the kings told us with you to blends.”

“Oh, the Light  now blazing out your froggy eyes will from you no more parts!”

BLIND IN ONE EYE AND COCK-EYED IN THE OTHER

BLIND AND COCK-EYED OL’ SHAG DOG

Ol’ Shag was the dog last needed in the draw

and the dog first needed in duty stood alone

Ol’ Shag’s eyes had known slashing lion’s paw

and suffered ripping wolf fang hard as stone

Ol’ Shag was this night trotting in the rear

swinging grey head with foggy eye and rolling glance

Ol’ Shag dropped stalling behind no more to bear

first duty of watch, must duty of closing sheeply stance.

Ol’ Shag swung his head in search of a pat

telling him soon grazing was reached

Ol’ Shag felt not touch but song as flying mat

for which he once beseeched.

Ol’ Shag saw fuzzed scrambling where sheep climbed to grass

as he swung his head from dark side to tipping side

Ol’Shag breathed harder as song swept dark to pass

away in all glory once foretold of shepherd’s betide.

Ol’ Shag stood tethered and panting in left behind

and swung his head in dark and tilting field

When quite in tune with his seeking so blind

A sharp tooth of light did sight so yield.

Ol’ Shag knelt down in weeds so hushed

now saw clearly his master by a manger

once for donkey but now for baby shushed

now saw clearly the love for stranger.

DREAMING ABOUT ADVENT

HERE IS A LINK TO A MEANS OF EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL HEALING THAT I HAVE BEEN MEDITATING UPON FOLLOWING THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS AND BEGINNING, FOR ME, THIS SEASON OF ADVENT.  THIS SEASON ALWAYS WORKS BEST FOR ME WHEN I CONSTANTLY REMIND MYSELF IT IS A TIME OF PREPARING MY HEART ALL OVER AGAIN TO RECEIVE THE BIRTH OF MY LORD AND SAVIOR THEREIN.

Key to easing a painful memory? Dream about it.

HOW CAN I PREPARE MY HEART?

1.  GIVING IT THE MEDICINE IT NEEDS TO HEAL ENOUGH TO BECOME A NURTURING RESTING PLACE

2.  GIVING IT THE REST IT NEEDS TO HAVE TIME TO DREAM

3. GIVING IT THE FOOD IT NEEDS, BOTH SPIRITUALLY AND PHYSICALLY, TO THRIVE

4.  GIVING IT THE TIME IT NEEDS TO EXPAND AND CONTRACT AND SQUEEZE AND LET GO

5.  GIVING IT THE OXYGEN IT NEEDS TO HOLD ITS OWN BREATH IN EXPECTANCY

6.  GIVING IT THE FLUIDS IT NEEDS TO WATER MY SOUL

7.  GIVING IT THE AROMAS IT NEEDS TO PREPARE A PLACE OF WORSHIP IN PURITY

8.  GIVING IT THE TOUCHES IT NEEDS TO CONNECT TO ALL HIS OTHER CHILDREN

9.  GIVING IT THE PRAYERFOCUS IT NEEDS TO KNEEL AT ITS OWN MANGER

10.GIVING IT THE STUDY IF NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO REST AND WORK IN BALANCE

Oh, little heart of mine, are you big enough?

Are you big enough to be a manger?

Oh, little heart of mine, are you sweet enough?

Are you sweet enough to feed a baby?

Oh, little heart of mine, are you soft enough?

Are you soft enough to hug that little child?

Oh, little heart of mine, are you strong enough?

Are you strong enough to pulse with that baby’s love?

Oh, little heart of mine, are you filled with enough air and blood?

Are you filled enough to hold still while all those others come to love?

Oh, little heart of mine, are you wise enough?

Are you wise enough to tell of His love to others?

Oh, little heart of mine, are you broken enough?

Are you broken enough to let the baby’s light shine through?

Oh, little heart of mine, are you still enough?

Are you still enough to rest within the baby’s arms?

Oh, little heart of mine, have you learned enough?

Have you learned enough to talk to my soul?

Oh, little heart of mine, have you prayed enough?

Have you prayed enough to kneel with the lambs?
