6-Apr-12: 1 Peter 4:1-8

Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same intention (for whoever has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin), 2 so as to live for the rest of your earthly life no longer by human desires but by the will of God. 3 You have already spent enough time in doing what the Gentiles like to do, living in licentiousness, passions, drunkenness, revels, carousing, and lawless idolatry. 4 They are surprised that you no longer join them in the same excesses of dissipation, and so they blaspheme. 5 But they will have to give an accounting to him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this is the reason the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead, so that, though they had been judged in the flesh as everyone is judged, they might live in the spirit as God does.

7 The end of all things is near; therefore be serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers. 8 Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.

“……and you say we must love each other ALL THE TIME?”

Now in comfort, now in humming quiet, all friends marched on.

Now in safety, now in unity, now moved past all breakers.

So critters and unfolk trod on the upward path, neath wings of Son.

So all eyes, all ears, all hearts pointed ever past all rocks, all fakers.

“So weuns go fastees, weuns holds fastees, weuns scold nasties!”

“No, no, ye scrumbling bumbling tumblies, “cried down Old Crow.

“No, no, ye hardy, tardy questers all! “buzzed Bluesy Dragonflysies.

“Ye must EVERMORE, EVERMORE love, love, love ALL as Bro’!”

“……and you say we can run FASTER holding onto each other?”

4-Apr-12: Hebrews 12:1-3

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely,

* and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,2looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of* the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 Consider him who endured such hostility against himself from sinners,

* so that you may not grow weary or lose heart.

“……and you say we can run FASTER holding onto each other?”

“Oh, pant, oh rant, oh smattering cant” friends called to each other up the hill.

“Oh, smartee, oh lordee, oh paining in the bootee is weuns,”screeched the questers.

“Oh, hushee ye, saveee ye breathees ye, “called down Big Bluesy Fly in thrill.

“Know ye not, if ye pushees each to’other, ye gets to running faster, ye besters!”

“……and you say THE ONE HIGH PRIEST was sacrificed?”

25-Mar-12: Hebrews 5:5-10

also Christ did not glorify himself in becoming a high priest, but was appointed by the one who said to him,

“You are my Son,

today I have begotten you”;

6 as he says also in another place,

“You are a priest forever,

according to the order of Melchizedek.”

7 In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Although he was a Son, he learned obedience through what he suffered; 9 and having been made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him, 10 having been designated by God a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

“……and you say THE ONE HIGH PRIEST was sacrificed?”

Once down at that so clear stream all friends grinned a-beam,

Once bumbled and tumbled feetsies all cleansies critters sighed a-bye.

“Oh,  now ye needs rest and think on quest, sing on quest of sweet dream,”

So did Old Crow and Ugly Bird and Bluesey Fly swarm to all in sigh.

“Now think of this thing, this one big thing, while ye rest, most crested.”

“Now ponder all yonder, way in the yonder of men’s killing the once-Babe, THE ONE!”

“What meanst, canst meanst, so mean ol’ winged ones?” cried friends so tested.

“Why, know ye not, ye be forever in dark shadow, dark bramble, if High Priest not so done!”
